Keith Barrs is currently a lecturer at Kanda University of International Studies in Japan and also a PhD candidate at the University of Leicester in England. His primary academic interests are in the linguistic phenomena of borrowing arising from language contact, with a specific focus on the Japanese context. I am especially interested in the incorporation and integration of English-derived lexical items into the Japanese language, and the pedagogical implications arising from viewing these items as a useful lexical resource for the classroom.
